The phrase “heart health” is thrown around a lot, but it can be a bit vague. If you’re unsure where your heart stands, an easy way to get started is to look at six key numbers. The first is blood pressure with a goal of 120/80 or less. Next, it’s good to know your cholesterol and blood glucose levels. Your body mass index is also an important number to know because a BMI over 30 puts you at higher risk for heart disease, among other things. Two numbers you may not think affect your heart health are how many hours you sleep each night and how many steps a day you take. Learn more about the specific numbers that affect your heart health.
