Letters to the Editor Policy

We welcome letters from our readers on issues relevant to the Capital Region business community. Our goal is to foster thoughtful discussion and provide a platform for diverse perspectives.

Submission Guidelines

  • Length: Letters should be no more than 250 words.
  • Author information: Submissions must include the writer’s full name, city of residence, and a daytime phone number for verification. Only the name and city will be published.
  • Editing: Letters may be edited for clarity, brevity, and style, but we will preserve the writer’s intent.
  • Publication is not guaranteed. We reserve the right to decline letters based on relevance, redundancy, or editorial standards.

Content Standards

  • Relevance: Letters should address business, economic, or policy issues impacting the Capital Region business community or respond to content published in Business Report.
  • Professionalism: No personal attacks, profanity, or defamatory statements will be accepted. Letters should contribute constructively to the dialogue.
  • No Promotions: Letters may not promote a business, event, or commercial service. Opinion-based advocacy is allowed, but advertising content will not be considered.
  • Exclusive to Business Report: We do not accept form letters or submissions sent to multiple media outlets. Letters should be specifically written for Baton Rouge Business Report and relevant to our readership and content.
  • Fact-Based Discussion: Opinion is welcome, but letters should be factually accurate. If citing statistics or studies, provide a source.

Submission Limits

  • One letter per writer per month to allow for a range of voices.
  • No duplicate submissions or previously published content.

How to Submit

  • Email your letter to editors@businessreport.com with the subject line: “Letter to the Editor Submission.”
  • By submitting, you grant Baton Rouge Business Report the right to publish your letter in print and online.
