What the latest Louisiana unemployment numbers show 

    Louisiana’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in July decreased for a fourth consecutive month, according to the latest figures from the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

    The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for July was 3.9%, down from the previous month but still 0.5 percentage points higher from last year.

    There were 1,994,406 seasonally adjusted employed individuals in Louisiana in July, a slight increase from June but a 0.27% decrease from July 2023. 

    Construction, private education and health services, and the government sector showed the largest employment gains year over year.

    The Baton Rouge metro has lost the most jobs in the state (1,400) since June. Year over year, however, the metro has added 5,500 jobs—which leads the state.
