See how Baton Rouge’s holiday budget compares to other metros


    While the holiday season is retail’s Super Bowl, a recently released study shows that Baton Rouge-area shoppers have a smaller budget for gifts and holiday decor than many other Louisiana cities, The Center Square reports. 

    Baton Rouge ranked 550th out of 558 cities featured on WalletHub’s annual study of seasonal affordability, with an average holiday budget of $567. Shreveport followed closely at $644, and New Orleans placed 521st at $727. 

    Residents in suburban areas, such as Kenner and Metairie, fared better, with budgets of $1,375 and $1,323, respectively.
