Louisiana unemployment numbers continue to fall 


    Both initial and continued unemployment claims in Louisiana continued to decline last week, according to figures released Friday

    Initial unemployment insurance claims dropped nearly 5% for the week ending Aug. 17, to 1,761. Initial claims were 6% lower than the same period last year. 

    Continued claims also decreased, shrinking roughly 3% to 13,667. Continued claims for the week were roughly 8.6% lower than they were last year.
