Labor union disapproval reaches 57-year low

According to new Gallup data, the share of Americans who disapprove of unions hasn’t been as low as it is right now since September 1967, Axios reports.

Seventy percent of respondents to Gallup’s most recent poll, conducted this month, say they approve of unions. That’s only one point shy of the record approval seen in 2022.

Unions have seen a resurgence in recent years thanks in large part to a more positive public sentiment toward organizing efforts and strikes as well as a strong labor market that has emboldened workers across the country to ask for more from their employers.

Still, the overall share of workers who are union members currently stands at just 10%—a record low.
