How Bistro Byronz in Mid City is transforming itself

Bistro Byronz on Government Street is undergoing an “exciting transformation” and rebranding as Brasserie Byronz, the restaurant announced Friday.

To facilitate that transformation, the eatery will be closed until Wednesday, Sept. 25, at which point it will reopen with its brand new identity and menu.

Brasserie Byronz aims to “bring the heart of France to the soul of Louisiana,” according to a statement. The restaurant will offer French-American cocktails, cuisine and décor.

The Bistro Byronz and Brasserie Byronz brands are part of the Byronz Family Restaurant Group. Two other Bistro Byronz locations—one in the Willow Grove neighborhood of Baton Rouge and one in Mandeville—are currently in operation. In 2020, the restaurant group opened a new concept called Pizza Byronz next to its Bistro Byronz location in Willow Grove.

While Bistro Byronz first opened its doors in Mid City at the intersection of Government and South Eugene streets in the 1980s, the restaurant moved into its current space in the former home of White Star Market in 2021.
