Get updates on real-time traffic and road conditions using the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) 511 Traveler Information System. Voice-activated 511 Traveler Information Service is available to most wireless and landline telephone users by dialing 511 from their telephone and saying the route or region about which they are seeking information. Out of-state travelers can call 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511). Travelers can also access information by visiting the 511 Traveler Information Web site at www.511la.org. Beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, the City of Walker's Emergency Command Center became operational at the Department of Public Works building, 13730 Ball Park Drive. Two emergency hotlines have been activated until the storm is over. Those numbers are: 225-665-8990 and 225-665-2467 .
The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals has issued boil advisories for the following systems in response to Hurricane Isaac:
West Baton Rouge Waterworks District 2 (West Baton Rouge Parish) - broken water main from fallen tree caused pressure loss.
Alton Water System (St. Tammany Parish) - pressure loss due to power outage
Crossgates Ben Thomas Road (St. Tammany Parish) - pressure loss due to power outage
Town of Roseland (Tangipahoa Parish) - pressure loss due to power outage
Schriever Water System (Terrebonne Parish) - interruption in water treatment facility
St. John Water District #1 (St. John the Baptist Parish) - system flooded

The Louisiana Business Emergency Operations Center (LA BEOC) has been activated to focus on providing situational awareness and resource support, supporting community recovery, mitigation, and economic stabilization. BRAC is encouraging all businesses in the region to register with LA BEOC for updates on the movement of the storm and resource identification at labeoc.org.

Branches of Hancock Bank and Whitney Bank will reopen Thursday Aug. 30.
Baton Rouge Little Theatre's Thursday performance (Aug. 30) of Assassins has been canceled. The Box Office will close Tuesday, Aug. 28, at noon and will reopen Thursday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m.
BREC will close all recreation centers and special facilities including BREC's Extreme Park, Baton Rouge Gallery, Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, Farr Park Equestrian Center, Independence Park Theatre, Magnolia Mound Plantation and Highland Road Park Observatory. All five BREC tennis centers will remain open until 4 p.m. on Tues., Aug. 28 and will close on Wed., Aug. 29. The Baton Rouge Zoo and all seven BREC golf courses will operate under a "to be determined" status as of now. For these facility schedules, visit brzoo.org or brecgolf.org for continuous updates.
Sidney Hutchinson Park in Walker is closed to through traffic. Entergy is using the facility as their main staging area for all trucks and equipment. You will no longer be able to travel through the park as a connection from Corbin Avenue to Ball Park Road.
Pinnacle Entertainment has announced that it's postponing the grand opening of the $368 million L'Auberge Casino & Hotel in Baton Rouge, which had been planned for Wednesday.
Center for Planning Excellence's 7th Louisiana Smart Growth Summit has been cancelled. As soon as details regarding new dates for the summit are confirmed, CPEX will send out notifications and information will be posted on the summit website at summit.cpex.org.
Season opener LSU vs. North Texas will currently go on as scheduled Saturday Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. LSU will keep fans posted of any changes concerning athletics events through its website at LSUsports.net.

State government offices will be closed statewide on Wednesday, Aug. 29 and Thursday, Aug. 30.
Baton Rouge City Court will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 28 and Wednesday, Aug. 29.
All City of Walker municipal offices will be closed for routine business Tuesday and Wednesday.
Whole Foods will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 30th and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, August 31st.
Normal operations will resume at Earl K. Long Medical Center beginning Thursday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m. including business as usual for outpatients in clinic and perioperative for Friday, August 31.
The City Club will be closing after lunch on Tuesday, August 28th and will reopen on Thursday, August 30th.

Cortana Mall will close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, to ensure that shoppers and mall employees have time to safely batten down the hatches in preparation for Hurricane Isaac. The Mall will reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31.
Walmart in Walker will be closing at 5 p.m. Tuesday. It will not reopen until sometime Thursday morning, pending weather conditions.
Southeastern University will cancel classes on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Dunham School, Parkview Baptist School and Episcopal, as well as Kenilworth Science & Technology Charter School, will all be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
Livingston Parish public schools are closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Runnels School will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
LSU will reopen on Friday, with all classes taking place and campus offices open.
Southern University says Friday will be a workday for faculty and staff, but that classes won't resume until Tuesday. Baton Rouge Community College will also resume classes Tuesday, as will the Catholic schools in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Livingston and Ascension Parish public schools have both announced schools will remain closed through Tuesday.
East Baton Rouge Parish public schools will remain closed Friday and will reopen Tuesday.
Airlines currently plan to operate all departure flights from the Baton Rouge Metro Airport (BTR) through Tuesday; however, flights into BTR that are scheduled to arrive Tuesday evening and overnight at the airport will likely be canceled. All BTR flights are expected to be canceled on Wednesday. The flight schedule on Thursday will be based on the forecasted weather conditions. Please check with your airline to confirm if your flight is affected.
CATS will resume regularly scheduled service on Thursday August 30th at 3:00 p.m.
The following roadways inside the city limits of Walkercurrently have high water. Please use EXTREME CAUTION when driving in these areas. Additionally, Pendarvis Lane between Pleasant Ridge & Red Oak is closed due to a fallen tree entangled in electrical wires.
Ball Park Road
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) today announced open routes for drivers returning to the New Orleans area following Hurricane Isaac. Currently, the most direct open routes into the city include:
Traveling to New Orleans from the east:
Take I-10 west to I-610 west. I-610 will then reconnect with I-10 just west of the city.
Traveling to New Orleans from the west:
Take I-10 east to U.S. 61 (exit 187) toward Gramercy. Turn right onto La. 641. La. 641 will turn into La. 3213 near the Mississippi River. Travel on La. 3213 and take a left on La. 3127. Keep straight on La. 3127 and take I-310 to New Orleans until it connects with I-10 east. I-10 east will take you into the city.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has cleared and reopened all state routes in East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana and Pointe Coupee parishes.
Waste Management will suspend disposal operations at Woodside Landfill (Walker) and Reliable Landfill (Livonia) at 4 p.m. today August 28. Both landfills will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 29 and Thursday, Aug. 30.
