They're back: the Best of 225 Awards, 2011 edition. These are our readers' favorite people, places, dishes and destinations—all of which amount to why we love living in Baton Rouge.
We began in January, when we invited readers to nominate their favorites in more than 50 categories. We counted them up, identified the finalists and turned over the data to Survey Communications Inc., our market research firm.
SCI crafted the final survey and administered it March 11 to March 15. Drawing from a pool of tens of thousands of readers and online subscribers, SCI randomly invited some to complete the survey. This year, a record 3,300 people did so.
SCI's methodology assures that your votes cannot be rigged or stacked. The results you see are a true reflection of what 225 readers say are this year's Best of 225.
Congratulations to three lucky readers who completed their surveys and were chosen at random to receive a $150 restaurant gift certificate to a Best of 225 Award finalist of their choice: Betty Whitt, Brooke Barnett and Robert Israel.

Bad Guys, Good Eats! Pop-Up Dinner at Restaurant IPO
Chef and 225 contributor Jay D. Ducote and Chef Chris Wadsworth hosted the Bad Guys, Good Eats! dinner at Restaurant IPO Wednesday night. The dinner was themed around famous movie villains, pairing cocktails and ales with plates of food resembling famous baddies like The Joker, Lord Voldemort, Hannibal Lector, and many others. The highlights of the night were the three middle courses—a black bean soup laced with blood sausage to signify Lord Voldemort, a brace of coneys on black eyed peas resembling Sauron, and lamb medallions atop a fava bean puree to pay homage to the famous favorite of Hannibal Lector.
