Traction Sports Performance expanded its footprint in the Capital Region to Ascension Parish after acquiring the former D1 Training Ascension facility property near Cabela’s.

Traction CEO Mack Chuilli acquired the property through Chuilli Properties LLC from Haddad Investments LLC for $1.75 million, according to a deal filed in late March with the Ascension Parish Clerk of Court’s office. Philip Haddad represented the seller.

Traction Sports Performance announced on social media in February that it was expanding into Ascension. The facility opened last week.

Established in 2007, Traction offers athletic training, youth sports camps and physical therapy for various sports.

The company’s complex on Gardere Lane has a 20,000-square-foot performance center, a 5,000-square-foot weight room, among other amenities. There is also a facility in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Our Lady of the Lake Health purchased a 40% minority stake in Traction Sports Performance in 2023 to improve athletic performance, decrease injury potential and reduce rehabilitation time.

Chuilli could not be reached before this morning’s publication deadline.
