It goes without saying that meetings are an essential function of any workplace. But too often, they can feel inefficient, unproductive or unnecessarily lengthy.
So, how can you run a meeting that every participant sees value in?
In the latest issue of Business Report, Logan Austin, COO of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, shares his tips for running a worthwhile meeting.
The success of a meeting isn’t determined solely by what happens during it, he says. It’s about preparation, execution and follow-through.
“Many people think the most critical time related to a meeting is the meeting itself,” Austin says. “In reality, it’s the time leading up to it that can make or break its success.”
Before the meeting, be intentional to invite the right people. Ensure that only the necessary stakeholders are included. Too many attendees can lead to inefficiency, he warns, while too few may leave critical voices out of the conversation.
