    The state Senate will vote today on whether to ax this popular tax credit


    Hundreds of film industry workers filled the state Capitol’s Senate committee hall Sunday afternoon to oppose legislation that would dismantle the program that turned Louisiana into Hollywood South, Louisiana Illuminator reports. 

    After hearing testimony, the Senate Committee on Revenue and Fiscal Affairs opted to defer voting to Monday. 

    To make up for the revenue lost with the state switching to flat taxes, Gov. Jeff Landry’s plan would do away with a long list of tax credits, exemptions and other incentives lawmakers have enacted over the years for various special interest groups—including Louisiana’s Motion Picture Production Tax Credit Program.
