Why do you do what you do?

I enjoy leveraging the latest technology to generate solutions and new business opportunities for both my company and clients, plus I’m a geek at heart.

What is your greatest professional accomplishment?

I would have to say that I’m a professional at all. I started off in the Army with no real aspirations of going to college. I’m a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and that experience altered my perception on life and career leading me to where I am today.

What was your first job?

Mary Lee’s Donuts as a dishwasher and cashier.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

Lead by example and never ask of your subordinates something you would not do yourself.

Who do you most admire in the local business community and why?

The Pennington family for giving back to the community in return for their success.

If you could have any job other than your own, what would it be?

I would probably have pursued a career in medicine with some technical component.

What is the greatest personal or professional obstacle you've overcome?

Obtaining my MBA while maintaining a fulltime job.

If you started over, what would you do differently?

I would have chased my entrepreneurship dream at a much earlier age when the risk was not so great.

What is your prescription for life?

Don’t compromise your beliefs and value your family above all.

What book are you currently reading?

The Glorious Cause by Jeff Shaara.

If you could have dinner with any three living people, who would they be? (Authors? Leaders?)

Warren Buffet, Norman Schwarzkopf, Steve Jobs

Who would play you in a movie?

Matt Damon.

What do you do to unwind?

Spend time with the family and play as much sports as my wife will allow.

What is the most expensive purchase you've made for yourself?

A completely unnecessary motorcycle that my wife hates.

What is your favorite weekend activity?

I’m an avid LSU fan so if there is any sporting event you’ll find me there. If I’m not doing that I try and contribute my time to our church youth group and activities.

What's your theme song?

“I Can Only Imagine” – MercyMe.

What's your favorite spot in Baton Rouge?

The LSU campus.

How do you take your coffee/tea?

Coffee with 1 cream and 2 Splendas

What is your favorite movie? TV show? Band?

Godfather Trilogy, The Office, Dave Matthews Band.

What is your favorite gadget?

Windows Media Center, every home should have one.

What is something that you can't live without?

My family. If I didn’t have them I would have never become the person I am today.

If you could change one thing about Baton Rouge, what would it be?

I would change the reliance we have on the petrochemical industry by providing incentives that make sense and attract companies that want to partner with Baton Rouge.

What is your greatest hope for Baton Rouge?

My hope is the Baton Rouge’s leaders focus on education and economic development to retain and attract our best and brightest individuals and companies.

What is your greatest fear for Baton Rouge?

That the city is not able to control its explosive growth and we allow it to strain our public services to the point of no return.
