Baton Rouge wins 'ConventionSouth' Best Foodie City award
The results are in: Baton Rouge is among convention-goers' favorite cities in the South when it comes to the eats it offers. The Red Stick won the Best Foodie City title from ConventionSouth magazine for its subregion, which also included finalist cities New Orleans; Jacksonville, Miami and Tampa in Florida; Birmingham and Mobile in Alabama; and Jackson, Miss. Early last week, Baton Rouge wasn't faring well against its competition, but it surged ahead before voting closed on Friday. Visit Baton Rouge tells Daily Report that Baton Rouge garnered more than 35% of the total vote—about 1,800 votes overall, which was about 700 more than second-place Jackson. Baton Rouge will be featured in the May issue of ConventionSouth, along with a handful of other subregion title winners. —Matthew Sigur
