Restaurant IPO gets new chef
For the past year Chef Chris Wadsworth has been manning the kitchen of Restaurant IPO, providing downtown with fresh, local flair. However, Chef Scott Varnedoe will replace Wadsworth next week, IPO owner/partner Eric Macicek says. The split is amicable, Macicek and Wadsworth both say. Macicek says Wadsworth was getting worn out in the kitchen and wants to spend more time with his six children. "[Wadsworth] was here day in and day out," Macicek says. "We are happy to support him in whatever endeavors he tackles next." Macicek says Restaurant IPO won't change its menu for the time being but will look to add some new items in the future. "When we contracted [Varnedoe] to help us develop the menu in May 2012, we loved how unique things came out and how interesting the items were," Macicek says. "Scott has a level of execution that is second to none from what I've seen." Wadsworth, who is one of "Padma's Picks" on Top Chef New Orleans and was named a "Chef to Watch" by Louisiana Cookin', says he has another vision right now and will have big news soon. "My goal is to put Baton Rouge on the map for Louisiana dining," he says. —Matthew Sigur
