LSU's Highway Safety Research Group named innovator of the year

A new training manual app for law enforcement officers that replaces old hardcopy manuals has netted the Highway Safety Research Group at the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business the 2012 Innovative Customer of the Year award from A-T Solutions, a global counterterrorism firm. The HSRG assisted A-T Solutions in creating the LaTRCM app, which is available through iTunes. Law enforcement officers are consulting the manual to learn how to use new software developed by the HSRG called LaCRASH, which allows officers to fill out and submit crash reports electronically, directly from the squad car. "The HSRG has continually partnered with A-T Solutions to deploy innovative and cutting edge technology solutions to assist Louisiana law enforcement officers in their daily duties," says Aaron Baumert of A-T Solutions in a news release. "[The HSRG's] latest effort to help improve the quality of crash reporting data via an updated training application is a testament to its dedication."
