B.R. foreclosure rate largely unchanged in July




The percentage of homes in foreclosure in Baton Rouge trickled down in July compared to the same month a year ago, but was up slightly from June, according to a new report out this morning from CoreLogic. The foreclosure rate stood at 2.28% in July, down from 2.39% one year ago and up from 2.24% in June. The Baton Rouge rate remained below the state's foreclosure rate in July, which was 2.39%, and was also lower than the 3.25% average rate across the United States. Meanwhile, Baton Rouge's mortgage delinquency rate—that is, the percentage of home loans three months past due or more—slid down to 5.22% in July, compared to 5.52% a year ago. For historical comparison on foreclosures, Baton Rouge's rate was 1.28% in January 2009, 2.08% in January 2010, 2.79% in January 2011, and 2.43% in January of this year.
