'225 Weekender': Fête Rouge
Celebrate south Louisiana's vibrant food and wine culture at Fête Rouge, the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society's signature annual event. The fun begins at 6 p.m. tonight at the Crowne Plaza with the sixth Grace "Mama" Marino Lifetime Achievement Award dinner, honoring wine expert Tullio Saffiotti. The night includes live entertainment, wine sampling and a delicious seven-course dinner specially prepared by some of the city's finest chefs. Tonight's guest speaker is Bryan del Bondio, president of Markham Vineyards, with entertainment by Ned Fasullo and the Fabulous Big Band Orchestra. Cost is $200 per person. The celebration continues Friday at 6 p.m. with a chef competition, a silent auction and hundreds of wines from around the globe. Tickets for Friday's events are $50 in advance, $65 at the door.
