White names support team to implement public school reforms
Five education officials, including outgoing Zachary Community School District Superintendent Warren Drake, were tapped today by the state's education superintendent and charged with helping Louisiana's school districts implement tougher classroom courses and new teacher evaluations. Joining Drake on the team providing support for the new Compass evaluation system and implementation of the Common Core State Standards are: Kerry Laster, Louisiana Department of Education deputy superintendent of literacy and former superintendent for Concordia Parish schools; Gayle Sloan, district support officer in the Department of Education's Innovation Office and former superintendent for St. Tammany Parish schools; Melissa Stilley, Tangipahoa Parish School Board chief academic officer; and Francis Touchet, Erath High School principal. Louisiana Superintendent of Education John White announced the appointments today.
