Who's serving up the best sushi in the 225 area? Where's the best place for happy hour? Best bar to meet singles? For the seventh year running, 225 magazine asked, and you answered. And tonight, from 6 until 8 p.m., you can grab your copy of our July issue at Hot off the Press and be the first to find out who'll be crowned “Best of 225” for 2012. This can't-miss event happens at the Roux House on Third Street, where attendees will be treated to plenty of food, music, drinks and fun! Get your photo snapped on the red carpet, taste complimentary samples of Patrón XO Café and Ultimat Vodka, groove to tunes spun by a hip DJ and mingle with the award winners. Bad Guys, Good Eats! Pop-Up Dinner at Restaurant IPO
Chef and 225 contributor Jay D. Ducote and Chef Chris Wadsworth hosted the Bad Guys, Good Eats! dinner at Restaurant IPO Wednesday night. The dinner was themed around famous movie villains, pairing cocktails and ales with plates of food resembling famous baddies like The Joker, Lord Voldemort, Hannibal Lector, and many others. The highlights of the night were the three middle courses—a black bean soup laced with blood sausage to signify Lord Voldemort, a brace of coneys on black eyed peas resembling Sauron, and lamb medallions atop a fava bean puree to pay homage to the famous favorite of Hannibal Lector.
