Here's the deal: L'Auberge says it will be making on-the-spot job offers at a job fair it's hosting at Cortana Mall on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Casino and hotel positions are available, including table dealers, cage cashiers, floor supervisors, and food and beverage workers. The job fair will take place near the Virginia College entrance of the mall, at 9401 Cortana Place.

Online support: The Louisiana Department of Education is hosting two webinars this week about the new Course Choice program, a first of its kind, whereby students can access public funds to pay for individual courses that best suit their needs. Families will be able to use the Course Choice program to pay for apprenticeships, expanded career and technical education, higher education and virtual classes. Smokestack lightning: A federal appeals court today upheld the first-ever regulations aimed at reducing the gases blamed for global warming, handing down perhaps the most significant decision on the issue since a 2007 Supreme Court ruling that greenhouse gases could be controlled as air pollutants. The rules, which had been challenged by industry groups and several states, will reduce emissions of six heat-trapping gases from large industrial facilities such as factories and power plants, as well as from automobile tailpipes.
