Beginning Friday, Playmakers of Baton Rouge presents the family-friendly musical Pippi Longstocking at the Reilly Theatre at LSU. The titular Pippi is the “World's Strongest Girl”—and when she takes up residence in a small, conservative village with a menagerie of animals and no parents in sight, things in her adopted home take a turn for the strange. Pippi charms and delights the children of her village with her strength, confidence and tales of derring-do, but the adults are as confounded as the children are rapt. How Pippi manages to turn the situation around—and change the hearts and minds of everyone she comes across—is a story that will wow audiences of all ages. Find out more at playmakers.net.

Bad Guys, Good Eats! Pop-Up Dinner at Restaurant IPO
Chef and 225 contributor Jay D. Ducote and Chef Chris Wadsworth hosted the Bad Guys, Good Eats! dinner at Restaurant IPO Wednesday night. The dinner was themed around famous movie villains, pairing cocktails and ales with plates of food resembling famous baddies like The Joker, Lord Voldemort, Hannibal Lector, and many others. The highlights of the night were the three middle courses—a black bean soup laced with blood sausage to signify Lord Voldemort, a brace of coneys on black eyed peas resembling Sauron, and lamb medallions atop a fava bean puree to pay homage to the famous favorite of Hannibal Lector.
