CABL disputes teachers federation lawsuit
The Council for a Better Louisiana calls "unfortunate" the lawsuit the Louisiana Federation of Teachers has filed to stop the education reforms passed during the recent legislative session. "Once again the actions by the LFT show that the union is more interested in taking care of adult issues at the educational expense of students," says CABL. "It is disheartening that a teachers union would choose to sue the state to undo the reforms before they even have the chance to begin helping the hundreds of thousands of students who so desperately need a quality education." CABL says 230,000 public school students perform below grade level and 44% of schools earn a school-performance score of "D" or "F." "Louisiana needs major policy changes to improve education for our children."
